MONTE PIZZOC
MONTE PIZZOC (1565 m)
Pizzoc is a mountain in the Treviso Pre-Alps. It reaches an altitude of 1,565 metres and represents one of the highest points in the municipality of Fregona. It is an excellent vantage point from which to observe the Alpago Mountains and the Veneto Dolomites. You can also see the Revine Lakes and the lakes of the Lapisina Valley (Negrisiola Lake, Restello Lake, Morto Lake, Santa Croce Lake). But also the Col Visentin-Monte Cesen ridge.
On a clear day, the view sweeps from the Gulf of Trieste to the Euganean Hills, passing through the Venice Lagoon.

The summit is also easy to reach by car. From Vittorio Veneto, it is exactly 25 km to the summit. Coming from Vittorio Veneto, take the national road 422 to the village of “La Crosetta” (where there is the “Ristoro La Crosetta”, which is definitely worth a stop). After 1 km, a road bends to the left, emerging a few metres from the summit.
We can get as far as the Rifugio Città di Vittorio Veneto. There we can park, eat or just have a drink to refresh ourselves. The summit is characterised by the presence of meadows and some casere huts. And you will find a network of mule tracks and paths. These reach Piana del Cansiglio via gentle slopes and an enchanting beech forest. On the other side, the bare summit slopes steeply down to the Marca Trevigiana.

I like to walk there
I often take the walk from Cansiglio to the summit. There i leave the car halfway up, initially walking through the woods and then ending up on the road that leads to the ‘Città di Vittorio Veneto’ refuge. It is 4.5 km, a beautiful walk for everyone.
Another path leads in 15 min from the refuge to the panoramic bench. Absolutely not to be missed, the view from here is a spectacle!
An interesting hiking route, rich in history linked to the partisan resistance in Cansiglio, is the Lieutenant Berry trail, which starts from Cadolten and crosses the old abandoned pastures of Casere delle Mandre. Other hiking trails to reach the summit start from both Vittorio Veneto and Fregona. From Vittorio Veneto, the path starts from the Sant’Augusta pass, then follows the ridge and connects with the Madonna dell’Agnelezza path.Â
