MOLINETTO DELLA CRODA

MOLINETTO DELLA CRODA

There is a place that seems to belong in fairy tales. It is an ancient matermill  still in perfect working order, one of the least known places in Veneto to visit. It is the Molinetto della Croda located in Refrontolo, 15 kilometres from Vittorio Veneto. Visiting it means making a journey back in time, discovering a lost landscape that seems to be painted. The mill is located in Refrontolo, which is also part of the Prosecco area of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. In this article we will explain how to visit it.

The Molinetto della Croda is an ancient watermill that you can visit, it was built  in 1630. The old mill is located along the road that leads to the village of Refrontolo, in the valley of the Lierza river. The mill was used until 1953 and then abandoned. After years of decay, it was purchased by the municipality of Refrontolo, it was restored and today it is open for visits. In addition to the wheel immersed in the waters of the stream, on the ground floor of the building the ancient millstone has been faithfully reconstructed and is fully functional. Inside the Molinetto della Croda, a museum has been set up to tell its history and offer different exhibitions for each season of the year.

Visiting this small and fascinating mill is also an opportunity to explore the beauty of the Prosecco hills with its villages.
