Osteria Senz’Oste is located about 30 kilometres from Vittorio Veneto. We reach Valdobbiadene in about 40 minutes along one of the prosecco roads. On this road we will find the sign, after the location “Santo Stefano” and we turn left. You can park nearby, among the vineyards. In high season this might be difficult, so I recommend parking your car a bit earlier.
Between the vineyards of the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, we find a three-storey stone and brick farmhouse. It was built in the late 19th century and is preserved in its original state.
One day the owner Cesare had the desire to never disappoint passers-by,. He decided to keep the door of the farm always open. He put some of his own products on the table together with a short written instruction for visitors. Cesare remembers that day like yesterday. He had left three bottles of Cartizze at the farm, six glasses and a note on which he had simply written: “Bottle value 10 euros, help yourself and enjoy the ‘wine tasting”.
At that moment, the Osteria Senz’Oste became a reality.
A worldwide reaction followed. Little by little, the news spread and more and more fans started visiting the Osteria Senz’Oste. Both out of curiosity and to enjoy authentic food and breathtaking views.
Over time, funny and surprising messages and thank-you notes from customers also started appearing in different languages.
At that point, its popularity went beyond the borders of Valdobbiadene and reached an unexpected relevance in Italy and beyond.
Our product range expands
Over the years, the range has naturally expanded. It now includes many typical products from other excellent local farms working together to create an alternative network of territorial supply chains.
That of the Osteria Senz’Oste is a slow but constant evolution that, on the one hand, preserves respect for tradition. On the other, does not shy away from the challenges of the future.
Today, this place is a must for anyone visiting the Alta Marca Trevigiana: a place of extraordinary beauty known for its uniqueness and now part of the Unesco heritage.
