— Where do we go?

Friuli Venezia Giulia

"I am Elbrich, born and raised in the Netherlands but left for the north-east of Italy for love."

I would like to introduce Elbrich Bos. She has lived in Friuli Venezia Giulia for 25 years and works with great enthusiasm as an official guide in the most important cultural cities.

‘Friuli Venezia Giulia has a lot to offer culturally, which makes a visit to this region worthwhile. About 1.5 hours to 2 hours’ drive from Vittorio Veneto, you will find many authentic and very interesting cities such as the capital and port city Trieste, which was part of the Austrian Empire for centuries. Or the second largest city Udine, where you can clearly see and feel the Venetian influence.’

‘Three cities are even on the Unesco World Heritage List. For example, Cividale del Friuli (because of its importance as a duchy of the Lombards in the early Middle Ages). Aquileia (famous for the Roman excavations and the beautiful early Christian basilica with a fourth-century mosaic floor of no less than 750m2 ! And Palmanova (a true 16th-century fortified town). There are, of course, many more characteristic villages to discover. Friuli Venezia Giulia has not yet been discovered by mass tourism and the advantage of this is that it is still quite quiet.

Come and see for yourself I would say!’

‘I will gladly show you around personally. So please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in a tour, that will make your visit just that little bit more interesting.’
